We spend our morning talking about basics of drawing and using a pen. We start with some hatching and talking about value, then switch gears and try our hands and gesture drawing. Later, while we wander through the streets of Montepulciano, we'll use gesture drawings to capture locals and tourists as they go about their daily activities.
Montepulciano is a small hill town that is renowned for its wine and even though the group splits up for our time in the town, we all end up getting a taste at one point or another. I run into a man I met here last year and he is again SO excited to show me the paintings that he sells for his daughter in a shop on the main street. There is no lack of history or shopping in this town and various members of our group spend their time engaged in one or both of those activities until we meet again for dinner and then drive for home.
